Each year Positive Heroes hosts a unique Fashion Show. This benefit event raises much needed funds for Positive Heroes and the publicity surrounding the fashion show highlights the importance of overcoming stigma and normalising HIV. Allowing us to reframe HIV as a part of life, and reach a unique audience. Proceeds from each year’s event cover the core-costs of running Positive Heroes for the next year: enabling us to reach millions of South Africans. This income allows us to personally respond to the hundreds of emails and letters that we receive and to continue connecting South Africans with services offering testing, treatment, care and support.
Through the publicity we garner around the event, and our Heroes appearing on National TV to millions of South Africans, Positive Heroes continues to prove that a HIV+ diagnosis is not a reason to give up living and that everyone can live fulfilling and extraordinary (and fashionable) lives!
